I wanted to knit Josh a new hat and he asked for an earflap beanie.

Pattern: My own/Mimipita/Turn A Square Needles: US 5 and 4s Yarn: Plymouth Encore DK (my old standby for a low maintenance man hat)
( More photos under cut )
We went through a ton of patterns on Ravelry, but he wasn't happy with the earflap treatments on almost all of them. D: Finally, we came across the Japanese pattern, Mimipita, which has cute round flaps. At about the same time, I saw that b r o o k l y n t w e e d was going to come out with his Turn A Square pattern, which has a square crown decrease, very similar to the kind you'll find on practically any machine knit beanie crown. So combining the two and my own ideas turned out pretty good.
Arghh... I just realized that I had been logged out of LJ for a week and have missed a week worth of locked entries! Have to go back and read stuff I've missed now. @___@

( Selected photos from the trip )
SDCC was awesome! I loved it! This was my first trip and I definitely had a good time. Oh my gosh, it's so CROWDED! The whole convention center was like a busy street in Hong Kong - super dense with humans inching forward at 0 MPH. Good thing it was a cool weekend or it would have really sucked to have had to walk around outside in 90 degree heat. I was like a fangirl all weekend long because everything was like a wonder to me! I didn't know there was going to be so many media companies there like NBC, FOX, and WB with huge displays. Josh hadn't been to SDCC for five years and said it's changed a lot since then: there's a lot more movie/TV booths and 'normal' people attending the con. We saw Rain doing autograph signings at the WB booth, and even though I was too late to get in line for an autograph, Josh snapped a lot of photos of him from 8 feet away. We also spotted LeVar Burton and Dennis Miller.
Panels We went to the Dark Castle Entertainment panel where we saw Rain again talking about his upcoming Ninja Assassin movie, then there was Ludacris, Guy Ritchie, and Jeremy Butler from 300 to talk about Rocknrolla. We went to the Gaia panel too, of course, but pretty much just sat along the sideline and let DJ Helsing work his magic. I wanted to go to the Heroes panel, but couldn't get to the con in time, and it's probably better that we didn't try because later on I heard there were people camping out since midnight the night before... o__o; We also couldn't get into The Office nor the Pushing Daisies panels due to people camping the rooms and not leaving. We did manage to see the Pixar panel with previews for the upcoming "Bolt" and "Up" movies and Josh and I saw Milo Ventimiglia (Peter Petrelli in Heroes) in a comic panel. Milo is soooooooo goodlooking. *_____*!!!! During the QA session, Josh wanted me to raise my hand and ask him a question but I was too shy, so Josh asked it instead. I'm so easily star-struck!!
Sea World CP really wanted to go see Shamu, so we did, and Josh and CP are really happy about doing the Shamu-Shamu dance now. -_____-;;;; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hbrkPAIgLHM&feature=related
Food Food is always a big deal for me on vacations and this one was no exception. We ate at Max New York with Pat, FSC, and Pat's friend James. For two breakfasts we went to Bondi and I had the eggs benedict both times. :9 We had another dinner with Phi and her friends at Buca di Beppos and our last dinner was at Dakota, which had such good porkchops - aaaaahhh! :D Sweets-wise, we went to Ghiradelli's and twice to Pinkberry!
I should probably start thinking about plans for next year's trip already...

Hey, why don't we just use Care Bears and ponies and rainbows for our ads!? Oh whoops, that might be offensive to two people out there, better not do it!!!

Ne-Yo - "Make It Work" |
] |

Pattern: Megathy on Ravelry Yarn: 3 hanks of Cascade Sierra 06 Needles: US 9
This knit went pretty fast in that I started and finished it within June. I waffled between going with this salmon color or magenta, but Josh thought salmon would suit my wardrobe palette better.

It's a good thing my sister helped me take photos of it before softball practice as I now have a horrible tan line on my shoulders. x__x I've been playing slow-pitch softball with coworkers in a co-ed company league. We have two softball teams this season: Gaians Gone Wild and Gaians Gone Mild (I'm on Mild). It's fun, but PAINFUL! I've gotten hit with the ball every single practice so far, including yesterday's practice from which I now have a red circular welt on my left thigh.
I'm going to SDCC this year (fer reals) so maybe I'll see some (any) of you if you go too.

Photo time! Finally found Jen and Andre! >:O Their cosplay outfits are stunning, but why Andre does not angle his abs toward the camera in any of these shots is beyond me!

| Leafy Shrug and Doppelganger |
[22 Feb 2008|10:32pm] |
I knit a shrug with gigantic leaves on the back. It made its debut at Stitches West today, the first knitting convention I've ever attended. My face was like O_O the whole time; it was like the first time I ever went to an anime con: overwhelming!! No cameras were allowed in the market (basically dealers room) though, poo.

( More photos and knitting rambling )
And my youngest sister found this .gif of a Korean pop star who looks a lot like me when she looks down ;;;;;;;;; Creepy doppelganger!

We now have Rock Band in our office entertainment area. I'm probably going to bring in my guitar controller next week so someone can play bass.
All is well.

I had a lovely bath today with my favorite LUSH bath bomb, Sex Bomb. I smell soooo good and I will for the next couple of days because it lingers! Mmmm...jasmine... I read half of that Death Note artist's new manga Ral Grad while in the water and am liking the series so far.
Still playing a lot of Rock Band. I can guitar and drum on medium difficulty, and sing on hard. Need to pick up an ethernet cable to connect and buy some more songs... -w-;;;;
